SEWING AND DESIGN

 

Prospectus and fee structure

 

Usha International Ltd  has a network of Sewing Schools spread across places in India. The primary focus of these schools is to make girls and women adept in stitching basic garments,enabling them to earn their livelihood. The students in our schools are trained in drafting, cutting, tailoring and embroidery.

 

Course Duration

 

6 months course

 

The students for the 6 months course will have to appear for an exam,comprising of a theory  and a drafting paper. Other than this they would  also be assessed on sample files, record for pattern making and garment construction. They will be graded as per the following details.

 

1st  division 60% marks and above

2nd  division 50 to 59% marks

3rd  division 40 to 49%  marks

 

STUDENTS WILL BE AWARDED A DIPLOMA ON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF EXAMINATION CONDUCTED FOR THE COURSE

 

3 MONTHS COURSE

 

Students of the 3 months course will be given a completion certificate after successful completion of the course. No examination.

Each class will be for 2 hours on all working days (Monday – Friday, timing 10 a.m to 5 p.m)

 

 

 

 

      SEWING AND DESIGN – 6 MONTHS

  • Essential terminology for fashion industry
  • Colour theory – study of different types of  colours and their combinations
  • Garment details
  • Sewing machine and practice – machine problems, sewing aids, needle and threads
  • Basic hand stitches – button fixing,button holing, hook fixing, eyelets, hemming, stitching sari fall etc.
  • Basic seams
  • Fibers and Fabrics and fabric recognitions – study of different kinds of fabrics
  • Fabric care – spots and stain removal
  • Garment fitting,seams allowance, fabric requirement

  7. Simple kurta with neck and sleeve variations with plain pajama

The creative design course aims at enhancing an individual’s creativity and is an attempt at making sewing a part of one’s lifestyle. It shows how home accessories can now be made using one’s own creativity,adding a personal touch to home.

 

This course is divided into 5 main sections – general introduction, kitchen accessories, home furnishings, fashion accessories, renovation of old garments and apparel, and teaches a host of products that are easy to make, with details of material and measurement requirements,and steps of construction.

Hobby courses are an attempt at making sewing a part of one’s lifestyle. Learn theory and the practical aspects of sewing including taking measurements , pattern making , cutting, choosing fabrics and colours and much more. Usha sewing schools will help you create your own new look.

 

There are three courses – Indian Garment Design, Little Girls Dress Making and Western Casual Wear. They teach a host of designs that are easy to make, with details of material and measurement requirements, and steps for construction.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

1        Students should be punctual and attend classes in the time allotted. Students coming late would not be allowed to attend class in another batch

2        Students  should pay the full amount of fees at the time of registration

3        Fees once paid  after admission is non- refundable

4        The students would be eligible to appear for the exams only if they have 75% attendance. No Diploma certificate would be issued without taking the exam.

5        Students would be evaluated on theory, practical and sample files or records maintained by them.

6        Students would have to arrange for their own pen, pencil, tools, equipments, fabric etc for undertaking the course. Usha affiliated Sewing schools would only provide sewing machines.

7        The fee structure / schedule is subject to revision by the  usha affiliated sewing schools.(at our sole discretion).
